Test

Testing, Testing, One Two Three I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, but here goes......... I read this morning that DCX shelled out many millions to assuage the guilt of some Southern mother who was negligent enough to allow one child to run over the other in a mini-van. This is the ammo for the so-called "tort reform". They've already won in the court of public opinion by getting away with labeling it with those words. It really is "LAWSUIT RESTRICTION and CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY LIMITATION! Really, people what the hell is going on when these morons, who I wouldn't let do my taxes, let alone have nuclear codes, can frame the dialogue of public debate in the terms they are allowed to dictate? Their use of the language infuriates me. Partial birth abortion, death tax, no child left behind.............these terms belie the actual intent of their legislation. How about the "Mother's Life Preservation Procedure" or "The American Responsibility to the Poor Fee", or even "The Teachers' Facilitation Act"?. I guess one man's freedom fighter is anothers terrorist, but isn't an elephant an elephant, even if you call it a dog? Please, people, at least read and ask questions. I abhor the popularity of these so-called "pundits" that seem to be shaping the terms of the debate in this country. Rush and bad Billy and Hannity do NOT stand up under scrutiny, and unfortunately, neither do the recent pronouncements from the Democrats, either. We need honest, healthy debate, not political dogma. Does anyone in this country really think torturing some poor goatherd from Pakistan can really further the cause of America? Does the body politic really believe and trust the government to set up a "shadow" justice system for so-called "combatants"? When the world was engulfed in total war, we relyed on the jurisprudence of open court, and amazingly enough, it worked, and made us the example for the world. Only in a free and fully open system can we claim the moral high ground. When we resort to the tactics of the enemy, we all lose. And to our shame when we, the public, allow it to happen.
